This will also charge the phone through power delivery. I had to use the OSD and tap on the battery icon to set the display to "deliver power" and after that I was able to use the phone's desktop mode. When I connected my Samsung Galaxy Note 20 to the display, it initially mirrored my phone's screen and did not switch to desktop mode automatically. The touchscreen can also be used to adjust settings in the OSD. The touchscreen is mostly for navigation purposes such as scroll, zoom and rotate. You can write on the display with a stylus or finger but the writing performance is not good. With MacOS, touch features is limited to mouse clicks, double click, click and drag.

The display is touchscreen and finger gesture support works well with Android and Windows. Or you can just use the touchscreen if you don't need the precision of a mouse. If I have to use the keyboard for long periods of time, I will probably use a wireless mouse. The click is a bit stiff for my liking though. The right Shift key is too small because the arrow buttons are full-size and take up space.

Brightness control on the function buttons control the brightness of the connected phone or tablet.

The keyboard cover is one of the main selling points because while there are many portable external displays in the market, not many come with a keyboard cover. The keys are not as good as wireless Logitech keyboards but they are good coming from a keyboard cover.

The keys feel plasticky but otherwise they have good travel and feedback.

Palm rest is nice and has this Alcantara-like texture. The keyboard cover is attached to the bottom of the display using strong magnets. I measured a maximum brightness of 260 nits. While 93% is not quite the 100% sRGB marketed by the company, anything above 90% sRGB is considered quite good colour coverage. Using a Spyder5Pro colour calibrator, I measured colour support for 93% sRGB, 72% NTSC, 73% AdeobeRGB and 78% P3. If you get the model with 1080P, pixelation will be noticeable. The 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution makes all visuals look sharp and detailed. Otherwise the reflections can make it difficult to see what's on the display.īezels are thin at the top and side, much thicker at the bottom. It's best to use this indoors or adjust the hinge so that you don't get reflections. The display is glossy and very reflective. VIewing angles are good with minimal colour shift. This is a beautiful display that uses WLED IPS panel. The hinge is stiff and can be adjusted easily to any angle. Portable displays with mini HDMI ports usually require another cable for power but it's not needed with the UPERFECT X Pro because there's an internal battery. Ports on the right are USB-C for video, data, audio, USB-C for charging only and a mini HDMI port. Ports on the left are 3.5mm audio jack, USB-C OTG (this does not accept video input) and a button/toggle for OSD. The two speakers are located on the back and sound quite muffled, and aren't powerful. The back also has a nice matte surface texture. There's no UPERFECT logo on the front and back. Not sure what material is used to make the body but build quality is solid, excellent and does not flex.

The supplied cables are in what looks like Ugreen packaging, but I can't find the specific USB-C one on the Ugreen website.UPERFECT is a company that sells a huge variety of portable monitors from 13.3 to 17.3 inches with 1080P to 4K resolution. I have asked Uperfect Support for advice on the cable specs but have had difficulty getting a response over the last couple of weeks. I can couple this with a right angle adapter,, though I don't feel this is necessary. I've also found a very short cable, 10cm, by MyTySun, which is a flat cable so much more flexible and has very short plugs.

So far I've found a Fasgear one,, which is a metre long but still quite thick. I've been searching for alternatives to have a right angle plug so the thick cable is not sticking straight out of the side.

My biggest concern with Uperfect X is actually the full complement of cables it comes with, which are thick and unyielding and I'm concerned about the strain it can put on the USB-C port in particular. Have you tried the microSD port or have any clue what it is used for? I feel you are a bit generous when you say the integrated speakers are OK in laptop mode, on mine they are far too quiet and tinny, I always switch to my phone's speakers, or, as you suggest, use headphones.
